Virtual 10k Run

Sunday 17th May 2020

Rotherham Virtual 10K: The Corona Virus outbreak and the control measures have meant:

• The cancellation of the event scheduled for the 17th May
• People in lockdown and subject to social distancing & isolation.
• The cessation of Age UK Rotherham's funding - both from the event donation and the revenue from the charity's shop and furniture sales.

The measures have also caused many new runners to start running to keep healthy, sane and active.

In an attempt to provide encouragement and a framework to help people start and keep running, we have decided to organise a Virtual 10K event to enable people to complete a virtual 10K, and to also help Age UK Rotherham continue their work to help the older and vulnerable people get the help & support they desperately need and deserve.

Our hope is that this will give those who have already started running a framework to help them develop their fitness and health / well being, and also to give some advice to those who may well want to start running.

We hope that when our lives return to something approaching normality, (when the town's four athletics clubs start operating again, and the town's two Park runs start again) some of those who have started running during the lockdown period will try out the Park runs or running with the clubs.

More details on how to take part in the Rotherham Virtual 10K are available on the
