Rotherham 10k and FunRun 2020

Virtual 10K a huge success!

The Rotherham 10k organising committee have been amazed by the response and success of the Virtual 10K!

The committee would like to express their thanks to everyone involved including runners, walkers, families and even a dog or two.

The event took place over 10 days, finishing on Sunday 17th May, and has so far raised £9,000 - with money still to come in. We would love to meet our target of £10,000!

Lesley Dabell, CEO at Age UK Rotherham said: "This has been a fantastic effort by everyone involved including the runners (or walkers or cyclists or toddlers or dogs) who have taken part, and the organisers of the Virtual Rotherham 10k, who were determined that this event would go ahead despite the Coronavirus restrictions.
The virtual 10k had around 250 participants who were walking and running, on one occasion or going out daily to total 10k. The picture on the right shows Lily our youngest participant, proudly displaying her medal. Participants came from far and wide including Rotherham, Sheffield, Hull, Scotland, Southampton, Clifton Park in Bury, and even one in Cleveland Ohio!

Following the success of the event we are looking at ways to help people stay active, so please keep your eye on the Facebook page for updates and more information. We look forward to welcoming you to the 10k in 2021!
