In 2017 Rotherham Harriers & AC teamed up with Age UK Rotherham to organise a 5Km (3 lap) race, and a 1 mile Fun Run, in Clifton Park.
The aim was to offer an opportunity for club and non club athletes to get active and run in one of the two events (Some did both), and also to raise funds for the excellent work that the charity does in the borough.
76 runners completed the 5Km race, and 65 the Fun Run.

The event was successful enough to suggest that it could be expanded to include a longer route, which started & finished in the park, but also went through the town centre and surrounding residential areas, and the idea of the Rotherham 10K was born,

A local Organising committee was formed with members of the town's running clubs joining Age UK and Rotherham MBC planned and delivered the inaugural event in May 2018. We were fortunate to secure sponsorship from Pawson Group for the first event, we had and encouraging 684 enter the 10K, with 587 finishers & 176 runners completed the fun run. To date the events have raised over £5000 for Age UK Rotherham
